Every figure on this page comes from measurement on our own blocks. Where we cannot measure something, we say so instead of modelling it and presenting the model as a result.

Position

Sustainability claims deserve the same scrutiny as product claims

Agricultural sustainability reporting has the same weakness as agricultural product data: most of it is generated by the party that benefits from a favourable number, using methods that are not disclosed.

We apply the standard we apply to client trials. Where a figure is measured, it says measured. Where it is partial or in a baseline year, it says so. Where we do not yet have a defensible number — site carbon balance, for instance — there is no number on this page rather than an estimate presented as a fact.

The research itself is the larger contribution. Reducing nitrogen application, replacing conventional protection with biological alternatives, extending soil organic matter and improving establishment so that fewer seeds are wasted — these are what the trial programme is largely about.
